He said that the program of redundancies runs between 2009-2012 and primarily targets the underground activity. “Last year, of the 600 positions scheduled for being shed, only 460 persons voluntarily registered on the list and effectively quit the company. The 460 were meeting the legal retirement conditions and also qualified for the benefits set forth under Law. No. 116; the same procedure applies for those who will leave this year,” said Daniel Burlan.
The SNLO director added that the corporation is waiting for the relevant Government Decision to implement the program of layoffs, which is currently at the Finance Ministry for approval. SNLO currently has 8,528 employees, the majority of whom work in the underground.
