US Embassy voices satisfaction over CSAT decision on missile shield
Romania, the embassy says in a press release, is a close and trustful partner and a strong NATO ally. Romania’s decision to assume responsibility for housing this system is proof to Romania’s commitment to the principle of indivisible NATO security and solidarity, reads the release. The US has decided that Romania has an adequate location for the system that will provide protection to NATO allies.
Romania has been invited by US President Barack Obama to join in the development of the US ballistic missile defence system, and Romania’s Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) approved the proposal at an extraordinary session on Thursday, as announced by President Basescu following the CSAT meeting.
