According to the data provided by the Driving Licence and Car Registrations Division within the Ministry of Administration and Interior, last year saw decreases for all the categories of new passenger vehicles registrations, compared to the same period of the previous year. The most significant drop was recorded for coaches, buses and mini-buses, the number of registrations being by 78.2 percent smaller than in 2008.
The automobile category faced a decrease by 43.9 percent. Thus, the number of registered coaches, buses and mini-buses dropped from 7,263 in 2008 to 1,586 in 2009, and automobile registrations dropped from 586,476 in 2008 to 328,880 in 2009. Regarding new utility vehicles registrations, the most significant drop was observed in tractors and lorries, by 95 percent compared to 2008.
