Snow blizzards leave one dead, three seriously injured in ten road accidents

Snow blizzards and glazed ice have generated ten road accidents in Romania that left one dead and three seriously injured, State Secretary with the Ministry of Administration and Home Affairs Valentin Fatuloiu, reported on Sunday after a meeting of the Emergency Committee at the Government House.

Fatuloiu mentioned that 86 people were still stuck in traffic in the evening and they were being granted assistance. He said that on Sunday afternoon, 136 county roads, four national roads, the A2 motorway from Bucharest to Lehliu were blocked off and the local authorities were working to clear the snow from the roads. At the same time, power outage left eight towns in the western county of Caras-Severin and the southern counties of Giurgiu and Olt in the dark throughout the day.
