PM Boc: Gov’t temporarily eliminates welfare contribution payment for companies hiring unemployed

Prime Minister Emil Boc announced on Monday after the central leadership meeting of the governing Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L) that the Executive would issue a normative act to temporarily exempt from the social insurance payment (CAS) the companies hiring unemployed people.

‘Based on the political discussions we have had within the National Standing Bureau, we will issue in the immediate future a legislative act, through which the companies hiring unemployed people will benefit from fiscal deductions related to the social insurance contribution payment, so that we should provide more support to the Romanian business environment, in order to overcome the crisis situation and salvage jobs,’ said Emil Boc.

The Prime Minister stated that this legislative measure would be talked over in the Government and it would be adopted by the end of February. Boc did not mention the time span during which this exemption measure would be valid, but stated that this issue would be decided upon by the Executive, following an impact assessment of this measure.
