Gov’t endorses euros 100 ml financial support for Moldova

The Romanian Government endorsed in its Wednesday reunion a financial support worth 100 million euros for the Republic of Moldova, the Gov’t spokeswoman Ioana Muntean announced.

The money will be released in four tranches between 2010-2013, and the grant will be possible as soon as an intergovernmental agreement is negotiated and ratified.
In 2010, the Republic of Moldova will receive a first tranche of this aid worth 25 million euros. “Romania is thus observing its promise to financially support the Republic of Moldova in the latter’s efforts to counteract the economic and financial crisis effects.

The funds are dedicated to finance some projects in infrastructure, transports and education and are to be given through the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education”, Ioana Muntean elaborated. The financial support worth 100 million euros was promised the Republic of Moldova by president Traian Basescu during his visit to Chisinau at end-January 2010.
