Code Yellow advisory reduced to 15 counties

The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has reduced the number of counties affected by the Code Yellow for abundant rainfalls from 24, as it was initially concerned, to 15.

ANM on Thursday morning updated Code Yellow warnings it had delivered a day before. According to the forecaster’s update, on Thursday, February 11, downpours were expected to be quite significant in quantity (more than 25 litres per square metre) in northern Muntenia and southern Moldavia, areas where rainfalls are prevailing, as well as in Southern and Eastern Carpathians, where the altitudes over 1,500 meters will be mostly covered with snow.

Winds will strengthen in the mountains, with gusts of 80 to 90 kilometres per hour being expected, while in Dobrogea and in southern Transilvania, wind speeds were expected to go up to 50 – 60 kilometres per hour.
The counties that have remained with Yellow Code alert are: Constanta, Tulcea, Braila, Buzau, Prahova, Dambovita, Arges, Covasna, Vrancea, Galati, Bacau, Brasov and, partly, Sibiu, Valcea and Gorj. Code Yellow expires Thursday, at 8:00 p.m. (local time).
