Germany further supports reform of Romanian judiciary

German Ambassador in Romania Andreas von Mettenheim expressed during a meeting on Friday with Minister of Justice Catalin Predoiu his country’s willingness to support the process of reform of the Romanian judicial system, as well as its interest in developing new common projects.

According to a release of the Justice Ministry the subjects discussed during the meeting referred to the priorities of the Ministry of Justice for 2010, in the context of Romania’s having fulfilled the obligations assumed under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism.

“The codes, impact studies, the laws of implementation, the amendment of the Constitutional Court Act were all subjects the German official inquired into,” said the Ministry of Justice.
The Minister of Justice presented the German Ambassador the developments in the Romanian legal system and the conclusions drawn following his participation in the stocktaking meetings of the Cluj, Targu Mures, Iasi and Bucharest Courts of Appeal.
