The programme will run for about 14 days and it will involve changing, repairing and checking of the equipment. These maintenance works at the plant are part of a larger programme to increase technical performances, in order to reduce variable costs and to ensure long-term competitiveness of the plant, said the spokesman.
The programme aims also at increasing employees safety and improving working conditions. Repairs will be conducted by ArcelorMittal Galati employees and contractors. This year, ArcelorMittal Galati has launched another investment to repair and upgrade Furnace No. 5, amounting to approximately 53 million euros, which will run for a period of one year, to benefit from the support of the best experts from ArcelorMittal Flat Carbon Europe.
