UBB Rector, at European Academy in Berlin

Rector of Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) Univ. Prof. Dr. Andrei Marga is to present the “Post-secular society” conference at the European Academy in Berlin (Germany) in the framework of a scientific session for the launch of the Hebraic Graduate School of Europe programme, set to take place over Feb. 14-17.

Andrei Marga is to sit on the podium alongside prestigious representatives of the academic circles during the debates organized by the European Academy in Berlin focused on the academic life in Germany.
In Nov. 2009, UBB Rector took part in the festivities occasioned by the official inauguration of the Hebraic Graduate School of Europe. The project of setting up a higher education body dedicated to this field was carried out at the initiative of a group of Jewish and German intellectuals and is backed up by the German state authorities.

UBB Rector is member of the International leading committee of the Hebraic Graduate School of Europe. The official inauguration of the Hebraic Graduate School of Europe was preceded by an International Conference organized at “Konrad Adenauer” Foundation Academy based in Berlin, where Prof. Andrei Marga gave a speech on “Judaism and Christianity – Roots of Europe”.

Cluj-based university has established in Jan. this year a programme of sending the first UBB student groups to the Hebraic Graduate School of Europe for studies.

President of the Jewish Communities Federation in Romania Aurel Vainer recently handed over to Prof. Andrei Marga the medal and document certifying he is a “Friend of the Jewish communities in Romania” following his “prestigious scientific research activity and in the higher education field, as well as for the “exemplary devotion and passion in the approach aimed at improving understanding relations between human beings and the rapprochement between Judaism and Christianity”.
