Gov’t to amend First Home programme on Wednesday

The Finance Ministry will unveil at the Government’s meeting on Wednesday the act on the amendment of the First Home programme, so that it should include three guarantee caps – 60,000, 70,000 and 75,000 euros respectively depending on the type of home, Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu told the Ziarul financiar daily on Tuesday.

“The normative act will be debated during the Government meeting on Wednesday because we did not think a special meeting would be needed, even though theoretically the programme will be on hold for a few days,” Vladescu said.
He explained the guarantee cap will remain 60,000 euros for old homes, and go up to 70,000 euros for new homes in case of individual purchase or construction and to 75,000 euros in case of multi-apartment construction projects for which loan applicants have partnered.

The deadline for signing pre-contracts for the initial version of the First Home programme expired on Monday. Those who got to sign a pre-contract to buy a home until Feb. 15 may continue to finalise their loan application files, while banks that have not exhausted their guarantee caps may continue to forward them to the Loan Guarantee Fund for approval, the daily said.
