Mircea Geoana endorses governmental majority with PNL and UDMR

President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD in opposition) Mircea Geoana told the Antena 3 television, on Monday, that he continues to back up a governmental coalition with the National liberal Party (PNL – in opposition) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR – at rule).

‘From my viewpoint, 2010 will be such a tough year that it will be needed a change of the government and probably of the majority, depending on the political developments by that moment. I am absolutely confident that this difficult period will bring about significant changes on the political stage, even this year. Our political project on creating a ruling majority with PNL and UDMR, is still active,’ PSD official stressed.

Geoana does not either reject a parliamentary alliance with PNL in 2012, but he thinks it ‘ is too early for a clear decision.’ ‘At a certain time, we’ll have to think over which is the formula judicially speaking, able to invoke, in front of the same President, as today, a majority of 50 percent, which can no longer be contested, by the Constitution. This topic is also active,’ PSD President said.
