Amara town mayor runs for Social Democrat leadership

Mayor of the town of Amara, Ialomita County (north-east of Bucharest), Victor Moraru, confirmed on Tuesday that he would run for the leadership of the Social Democratic Party (PSD).

During the extraordinary conference of the Ialomita County PSD branch, which was organized on Wednesday, mayor of Amara Victor Moraru distinguished himself through his criticism levelled at the current PSD leader. He said that “Mircea Geoana could be the best president Romania had, but he will not succeed because he does not know how to run a party.”

“Mircea Geoana should have come before the party and say that he renounces his position and wait 30 days until another national council is organized. Certainly, we are all to blame: us, as well as the PSD chairman and the leading team,” underlined the Amara mayor.
