More than 4,000 people recorded with Gendarmerie’s database of violent sports fans

The Romanian Gendarmerie will be providing public order services starting today for the second leg of the 2009-2010 national football. According to a press release of the Gendarmerie, there are currently 410 people banned from entering stadiums and 4,000 more are registered with the Gendarmerie’s database of violent sports fans.

The ban varies between 6 and 24 months. Most of them, or 179, are six-month bans. By the count of offences committed by the fans during football matches in the first leg of League One, the fans of Steaua Bucharest are first, followed by the fans of Rapid Bucharest and Universitatea Craiova.
The Gendarmerie is urging all fans to behave themselves and root for their teams in a fair-play manner, warning those intending to stir up trouble that the measures to combat stadium violence will be strictly applied and no manifestation against public peace and security will be tolerated.
