Romania, last in Europe in terms of 2009 non-residents spending nights at its hotels

Non-residents having spent nights in Romania’s hotels and other similar establishments in 2009 had the lowest share in any European Union member state, according to statistics released on Monday by the Eurostat European statistics office.

The number of nights spent in hotels in 2009 fell in all European Union member states, except for Sweden (0.1 percent). In Romania, hotel nights stood at 16.6 million, down 16.4 percent, 2.5 million of which were recorded by non-residents, down 21.9 percent, and 14 million by Romanians, down 15.3 percent.
