Code Yellow Danube flood advisory

The Romanian hydrology experts warned of Danube waters rising past alert levels starting Thursday, after the coming into effect of the Code Yellow flood advisory issued for particular river sectors.

The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INGHA) issued a Code Yellow advisory effective as of Thursday, 6:00 a.m. (local time) for Isaccea – Tulcea County (south-eastern Romania) and as of Friday, for the sectors Bechet – Zimnicea (Olt and Teleorman counties, southern Romania), Isaccea – Tulcea and Cernavoda (Constanta County, south-eastern Romania).

As of March 1, the Code Yellow advisory will be expanded to Calafat Dolj County (country south). The Code Yellow advisory runs to end on March 2, 6:00.
According to INGHA, considering the current hydrological conditions, the forecast for the evolution of the hydrological and meteorological situation in the Danube basin upstream the point where the river enters the country (at Bazias) and of the operation of the Iron Gates Hydropower System, flow rates and water levels are expected to rise past alert levels along the Danube (on the sector downstream the Iron Gates).
