The growth rate of the users’ number in 2009, compared to 2008, is similar to the one registered at the end of 2008, compared to 2007, and in the last quarter of 2009, Orange won 300,000 new clients.
Orange Romania’s revenues in 2009 amounted to over one billion euros, down by 19.5 percent compared to 2008. The annual average income per user was 92 euros in 2009. “Although the consumption in the above-mentioned network increased, the revenue continued to reflect the impact of the regulations, the drop in prices and the evolution of the exchange rate compared to the previous year,” said CEO Orange Romania Thierry Millet.
The number of Orange Romania’s broadband clients has also registered an increase, ie by 62 percent, amounting to 2,708,000 users. The HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) network covers 800 villages, towns and cities, while the EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) network, which is an evolution technology of the GSM/GPRS network, meant to improve the data services quality, has national coverage and ensures the stability of the mobile connection while travelling.
