In preserving the freedom of opinion, the freedom of expression, of speech and the freedom of choice, PNL needs to take consistent and unitary action, because steps to crumble the opposition are underway. “We are in the midst of a campaign full of diversions. You can see very well what happens at the Social Democratic Party (PSD). The action to tear down the opposition in Romania, and mainly the Liberal Party, is in full progress.
It is my obligation as party president to seek formulas whereby the party can defend itself,” said the Liberal leader. He admitted that PNL might not be spared a possible exodus of party members. In this regard, Crin Antonescu said that the members who intend to leave the party are free to do it, expecting the quitters to use the Congress next week as a pretext.
“If there are people who intend to leave, just as it happened before or as some PSD members have done, because they are either offered various promises or are rather under threat, they can use the Congress as a pretext. We do not organize the Congress to hinder those who want to go, but for us, those who stay on. I hope nobody leaves,’ said Crin Antonescu.
