Vama Buzaului aurochs reserve to be extended
The reserve currently covers ten hectares of meadows. The 80 hectares of extra woodland needed to extend the reserve will be made available by the village of Prejmer free of charge. The 1.7 million euros are needed to fence off the 80 hectares of wood to provide the best habitat conditions for the aurochs. There are three large aurochs reserves in Romania: in the eastern part at Vanatori Neamt; in the southern county of Dambovita, at Nega-Bucsani and in the western part, at Hateg-Slivut, the largest in terms of the size of the aurochs population.
