BVB’s Farmache: Listing Government-owned stakes will engage private companies as well
Listing the Government-owned stakes in national corporations will have positive effects on unit trusts and engage the private companies as well, Chairman of the Administration Board of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) Stere Farmache told a conference on listing companies with the BVB.
‘Floating share packages owned by the Government in national corporations diminishes suspicions over privatisations. At the same time, these listings will have positive effects on unit trusts and can get private companies engaged,’ said Farmache. He said he is surprised by what he called contradictory information circulated by the authorities about the timeliness of listing stock with the Bourse now.
‘We are surprised by the contradictory information circulated by the authorities about the timeliness of listings. Crisis should not discourage listings, as they should be seen as opportunities of the capital market,’ said Farmache. He added that the BVB is in conversation with the authorities on the listings of the Government-owned stakes in public corporations.
