Snow, blizzards ravage in Romania

Winter has staged a forceful comeback in northern and central Romania, with snow and blizzards having occurred for 24 hours straight.

Just 10 km away from the central city of Sibiu, at Rasinari, snow started to settle, enveloping the soil and vegetation.

Since trees have already blossomed there, locals are worried about their future crops.

Winter sports lovers have excellent skiing conditions at over 2,000 m altitude, at Lake Balea, where there is 125 cm snow.

Snow at Harghita Spa is between 15 and 20 cm, exceeding 20 cm in some areas where the snow was blown. Locals say it has been a long time since it last snowed abundantly there in May.
