Alro profit grows twice in first quarter 2011
Alro in Slatina (southern Romania), the largest aluminum producer in Central and Eastern Europe, posted a net profit amounting to 120.2 million lei (about 30.05 million euros) in the first quarter of 2011, twice as much as the net result of the similar span of time last year, according to the financial information sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
After the first three months of 2010 Alro posted a net profit of 50.5 million lei.
Alro is a subsidiary of Vimetco NV, a global company producing primary and processed aluminium. Alro is the largest aluminium producer in Central and Eastern Europe, with an installed production capacity of 265,000 tonnes a year.
The main market for the Alro products is the European Union (Hungary, Poland, Greece, Germany and Romania). The company also exports its products to the United States of America and Asia.
