ForMin Baconschi visits Hungary
Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi was welcomed in Budapest by Hungary’s President Pal Schmitt to discuss issues of interest on the European agenda, including the Danube Strategy, the EU strategy for the Roma, the finalisation of accession talks with Croatia and Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area.
According to a press release by the Romanian Foreign Ministry, the two officials underscored the importance of securing the conditions for the Romanian minority of Hungary and the Hungarian minority of Romania to have access to school tuition in their mother tongue.
MAE reports that at a meeting with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen, Baconschi discussed regional cooperation, including the expansion of energy and transport interconnection in the North-South European axis, and the internal state of affairs in Hungary and Romania, with emphasis on the immediate prospects for economic growth.
In his conversation with Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi, Baconschi discussed the excellent developments in the bilateral relations and cooperation inside the European Union and at world level, under the Romanian-Hungarian Strategic Partnership.
