PM Boc: Almost 250,000 employment contracts registered since early May
The number of work contracts registered after May 2, since the new Labour Code came into force, reached almost 250,000, interim Labour Minister and PM Emil Boc told the financial Conference BNR and Forum Investment, organized.
PM Boc had announced during the news conference at the Labour Ministry on Friday May 20 that 228,820 new effective labour contracts were signed after the New Labour Code came into force, and they totaled 6,275,307 last week, exceeding 6,230,353 employment agreements as reached on Dec 31, 2008.
‘Romania, after 1989, scored the largest number of work contracts, namely 6,296,205, in Nov 2008, and I’m sure it will attain the highest number, since 1989, within less than ten days, namely end in May. Today, we need about 21,000 contracts to attain the figure, but according to the pace nowadays it can be reached within a couple of days, and we may prove that the way out of recession is also confirmed by the number of employment contracts,’ PM Emil Boc said on May 20.
