Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu of Romania attend presentation of Jubilee Medal to King Mihai I
Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu of Romania, at the National Bank of Romania (BNR), on Monday evening, were attending the presentation of the Jubilee Medal dedicated to the celebration of the 90th birthday of King Mihai I.
BNR’s governor Academician Mugur Isarescu emphasized the traditional ties between Romania’s Central Bank and King Mihai I, since 1932 and 1940, continuing in 1945, and till 2000, 2001 and 2005.
„All this is preserved in BNR’s emotional memory, and I am confident it has a special place in the memory of His Majesty, too,” said Isarescu, wishing A Happy Birthday to HRH King Mihai I.
The Jubilee Medal for the 90th birthday of King Mihai I of Romania is launched in cooperation with the National Bank of Romania (BNR) and it is issued in the memory of the Sovereign and the Romanian currency that in accordance with the article 88 of Romania’s Constitution of the year 1923, it was issued in the name of the King.
The last two coins showing the King were issued in 1947 and they had the values of 10,000 lei and 5 lei respectively (before and after the monetary stabilization). Like all these coins, the Jubilee Medal’s obverse shows the profile of King Mihai I, and the reverse shows the Great Star of Romania. It is made of golden tombac, Cristian Ciornei designed it, and Vasile Gabor signs the model.
