Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu and Moldova’s Prime Minister Vlad Filat on Tuesday opened an outbuilding of the Romanian Consular Office in Chisinau.
Diaconescu, on his first visit abroad since recently being sworn in, pointed out that the Romanian consular office in Chisinau is Romania’s largest following the latest upgrading of the building. He added that Romania wants to improve the consular services it provides in Moldova.
„This is a natural attitude of the Romanian authorities and our concern will continue in order to promote the diplomatic services to the level of the exceptional and special relationship between Romania and Moldova,” said Diaconescu.
Prime Minister Filat said that because of Romania’s efforts the Moldovan citizens may get quicker consular services of higher quality. He mentioned the opening over the past years of the Romanian consular offices in Balti and Cahul and a consul’s office at Ungheni. He hailed the decision of Diaconescu to pay his first visit as foreign minister to Moldova.
„I hope this visit will give a new boost to the bilateral relationship to the benefit of the citizens,” he said.
