The Bucharest Court of Appeal finally sentenced the former deputy of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, in Opposition) and head of the State Secretariat for Revolutionaries’ Problems, Emilian Cutean, to five years in jail without reprieve.
The former official was accused by DNA prosecutors for having initiated a government decision in 2004, according to which it was approved the granting of over 300,000 lei to the revolutionaries association „Club 22”, which he had founded and whose president was at that time.
In the same case file, the former economic director of the State Secretariat for Revolutionaries’ Problems, Daniela Zbarcea, was sentenced to three years, but on probation.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected on Tuesday the appeals filed by Emilian Cutean and Daniela Zbarcea, they going to serve the sentences as they were ruled by the District 1 Court and Bucharest Tribunal.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal decision is final.
