Cutting the power supply to the population is out of the question, said President Traian Basescu on Monday.
He made it clear at the end of the consultations held at the Cotroceni Palace with the parties in the ruling coalition that there was no danger for the population to be short of electric power.
„There is no danger for the population to be short of electric power. If, quite out of the ordinary, there were some damage to the big groups of the thermo electric power plants, they would take action in keeping with a plan that was established before and meant to cut businesses from the power supply. Therefore, cutting the power supply to the population is out of the question. Moreover, I can inform you that Romania exports 500 megawatts an hour on average and probably, in the time to come, through a government resolution, they will decide to stop any export till consumption comes back to normal,” said Traian Basescu.
The Head of State made it clear that ‘for the Government the zero priority is connected to the support to be given to the communities and citizens affected by winter.” „It is a conclusion of the talks held with the parties in power,’ said Traian Basescu.
