Chairman of Romania’s Senate Vasile Blaga will attend the meeting of the Association of European Senates to be held in Paris on March 15-17.
According to a release ,the meeting aims to examine the role of Parliaments in controlling the euro-zone governance, as well as to debate the forms of cooperation able to re-start the economic growth in Europe.
Over March 15-17, Vasile Blaga will hold bilateral meetings with Vice President of German Federal Council Hannelore Kraft, also Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia land, with Chairman of the Netherlands’ Senate Fred De Graaf, Chairman of the French Senate Jean-Pierre Bel, Valentina Matvienko, chairwoman of the Council of the Federation of Russia’s Federal Assembly and with Chairman of Spain’s Senate Pio Garcia-Escudero.
According to the quoted source, the Association of European Senates gathers the presidents of Parliaments’ superior chambers from EU-member states and also candidate countries, in order to periodically swap experience and information.
The association currently reunites 15 European Senates and Luxembourg’s State Council, having the observer status.
The association was founded on Nov. 8, 2000 in Paris and Romania’s Senate is one of its founding members.
