Over 13,700,000 lei (3.071 million euros) were received in donations to political parties campaign for local elections, until May 31, according to the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).
Most funds were received during this period, from individuals or corporate entities, by the Social and Liberal Union and parties forming the coalition – PNL, PSD and PC, the total amounting to over 5,383,000 lei (1.206 million euros).
According to data posted on the AEP website, USL has received 3,933,189 lei, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) – 559,499 lei, the National Liberal Party (PNL) – 691,422 lei, the Conservative Party (PC) – 200,034 lei. Donations for the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) are over 4,200,000 lei, for National Union for Romania’s Progress (UNPR) – over 1,400,000 lei, and for People’s Party – Dan Diaconescu a total of over 1,094,971 lei.
The Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) has received donations in amount of 656,087 lei, the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania (FDGR) – 316,055 lei, New Generation Party – Christian Democrats (PNG_CD) – 219,034 lei, the Greater Romania Party (PRM) – 110,511 lei.
According to AEP, political parties received a total of 1,334,834 lei from corporate entities, and from individuals the amount was up to about 12,388,630 lei.
Among independents, Sorin Oprescu received the most money in donations – 200,000 lei, followed by the candidate for Mayor of Giurgiu – 107,200 lei and Dan Nicusor Daniel (candidate for Bucharest City Hall) – 53,248 lei.
Per total, independent candidates received more than 530,000 lei in donations.
All competitors in elections – parties and independents – have raised over 14,200,000 lei.
