BEC partial results: Sorin Oprescu – 56.25 pct, Silviu Prigoana – 15.98 pct


Independent Sorin Oprescu polled 56.25 percent of votes in Sunday’s local elections for the office of Bucharest general mayor, informs the Central Election Bureau (BEC) after centralizing results from 199 polling stations of the 1,223.

According to BEC spokesperson Marian Muhulet, the candidate of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) Silviu Prigoana scored 15.98 percent, while independent Nicusor Dan got 9.44 percent of the vote.

As regards the elections for the Bucharest Municipality General Council (CGMB), the partial results show that by the time being, the greatest number of mandates for the county councilor position have been obtained by the Social Liberal Union (USL) with 55.20 percent, followed by the PDL – 16.26 percent and the People’s Party (PP-DD) with 10.49 percent.
