Traian Basescu: Ford B-MAX production in Craiova is proof that Romanians can do anything if they want to
President Traian Basescu thinks that, if the labour force in Romania was able to adapt to the production of a motorcar like Ford B-MAX, this is a proof that the Romanians can do anything when they want to and when they have a good management.
‘Probably Craiova [248 km south-west of Bucharest] will join the high technology market in the automotive industry and the fact that the labour force in Romania was able to adapt to the production of such a highly performing motorcar is the proof that the Romanians can do anything when they want to and when they are well guided by their managers. I want to thank all the employees of Ford in Craiova, I also want to thank in advance the others, who will come by 2014, when the plant is to be staffed with about 6,000 workers,’ said Basescu in Craiova on the launch of the new Ford model B-MAX.
The President assured that he would support the Ford project in Craiova, as he had supported other projects too, like the one in Dacia at Mioveni (130 km north-west of Bucharest).
‘I shall be a consistent supporter of the development of this peak production unit. I would very much like that, in time, here in Craiova too, starting from the reality of Craiova, to have a university, technical upper secondary schools, and in Craiova too or in the vicinity, an excellence centre should develop. A centre in which both the Romanian technical intelligence and fantasy should be exploited in this very place, in the plant in Craiova,’ added Basescu.
Mention must be made again of the fact that Renault opened a technical centre at Titu (52 km north-west of Bucharest) on September 15, 2010.
