Prime Minister Victor Ponta who attends the European Council meeting in Brussels, had the opportunity, after the arrival of the delegates, to converse with some of the EU leaders, including French President Francois Hollande, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The Romanian Prime Minister was welcomed on arrival, just like all the other heads of delegation, by President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy.
Ponta entered the Council building immediately after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, with whom he exchanged a few words.
The head of the government in Bucharest also discussed with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, as well as with President of France, Francois Hollande, who both belong to the European socialist family. German Martin Schulz introduced Ponta to Chancellor Angela Merkel, who shook hands with the Romanian Prime Minister.
Upon his arrival at the Council, a foreign journalist mistook Premier Victor Ponta for the President of Romania.
