Suspended President Traian Basescu on Friday said that, to him, coming back to Cotroceni was no longer the main stake, as it was more important for the institutions to find if any frauds took place during the referendum.
„To me, coming back to Cotroceni is no longer the main stake. … For Romania’s health, for the health of democracy in Romania, it is essential that this referendum is analyzed in all its details from the legitimacy viewpoint,” Traian Basescu said, in a statement made at his campaign headquarters.
He brought harsh critics to Interim President Crin Antonescu, Premier Victor Ponta and Administration and Interior Minister Ioan Rus.
„To me, it is no longer a priority to come back to Cotroceni, that is why I am not even interested in the deadlines of the Constitutional Court. … To me, the highest stake at present is to dismantle the networks frauding the election processes and to hold responsible those who, after having organized a referendum, they deny it themselves,” Basescu said.
