The Cluj County Council and Cluj-Napoca International Airport (centre-west) are announcing the launch of the acquisition procedure through public selection of bids on granting financial aid to open new air routes.
The routes had in view in a first phase are Cluj – Brussels (Charleroi, Belgium) and Cluj – Weeze Nierderhein (Dusseldorf – Germany).
‘The object of the contracts to be concluded is the airlines’ provision of passenger air transport services on the route / routes for which they benefit from financial aid from the bidder. Contracts will be concluded for a period of seven and a half years (90 months),’ reads a press release from the Cluj County Council.
A new public selection procedure will be held in September for other four destinations: Alicante (Spain), Turin-Cuneo (Italy), Dublin (Ireland) and Berlin Schonefeld (Germany).
The Cluj County Council’s President Horea Uioreanu says that such a procedure is a first for Romania.
‘Cluj-Napoca International Airport’s starting this procedure, a first in Romania, contributes significantly to increasing the number of operated destinations, ensuring wider opening of the county and the region to entire Europe and beyond. This way, the county will become more accessible to both tourists and businesspeople, a fact that will certainly contribute to accelerating the economic development pace,’ Horea Uioreanu stated in the said release.
