The Euro-parliamentarians of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Group (ALDE) will gather in Bucharest on Oct. 16-17, the National Liberal Party (PNL), minor in the ruling Social Liberal Union (USL).
On Tuesday, Leader of the ALDE Group Guy Verhofstadt will launch his book The Financial Crisis, the above-quoted release reads. Slated to attend the event are PNL Chairman Crin Antonescu, Liberal MEP Norica Nicolai, Economy Minister Daniel Chitoiu and representatives of the academic milieu as well.
Also on Oct. 16, MEPs Norica Nicolai and Sarah Ludford will deliver a press conference following ALDE’s debate on the Romanian judicial system, while Guy Verhofstadt and Crin Antonescu will hold a press conference on Romania’s political situation.
The conclusions of the meeting will be unveiled on Wednesday in a news conference to be attended by Crin Antonescu and Liberal MEPs. On the same day, the MEPs will hold the debate on the topic Access to Funding. The Engine of the Growth of SMEs Competitiveness. In the opening of the debate, Guy Verhofstadt and Daniel Chitoiu will give speeches.
The first panel of the debate, tackling the theme Regulating Measures to Improve SMEs’ Access to Funding, will be moderated by MEP Cristian Busoi, with the speakers being Minister-delegate for the Business Milieu Mihai Voicu, representative of the European Commission Julien Guerrier, ALDE MEP Jürgen Creutzmann and Chairman of the National Council of Romanian SMEs Ovidiu Nicolescu.
ALDE MEP Philippe de Backer will moderate the second panel, Access to Funding in Practice. The speakers will be Mibatron General Director Viorel Popescu, Seletron General Director Arhip Janel, Managing Director of the Romanian Banking Association Florin Danescu, Chairman of the Romanian Cluster Association Daniel Cosnita and a representative of the European Investment Bank.
