Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs (MAE) will celebrate the United Nations Day on Tuesday at the institution headquarters through an event named „The UN Day” where the diplomatic corps representatives and former Romanian representatives at the UN are expected to participate.
„The Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited high-ranking diplomats at the event, former representatives of Romania at the UN Organisation and representatives of the MAE leaders who contributed and still contribute to the creation or development of cooperation between Romania and the organisation.
Among the guests there are academician Mircea Malita, chairmen of the two Commissions for Foreign Policy in the Romanian Parliament, Mircea Geoana and Laszlo Borbely, leaders of the branches of the UN System institutions in Bucharest, former Romanian top diplomats, with substantial contributions to Romania’s activity within the UN, academy personalities, representatives of the youth organisations in Romania at the thematic meeting organised under the UN aegis,” reads a MAE release sent to Agerpres.
The event will include a number of speeches, presentations and opinion exchanges about the main moments of Romania’s participation at UN activities, focusing on the historic area between the two parties, as well as on the current context and its prospects.
The representatives of the UN specialized institutions will evoke the main activities held in Romania over the 42 years of UN institutional presence in Romania.
The UN Day is annually celebrated on October 24, the global organisation and the member states mark the Charter of the United Nations in 1945.
