European Parliament president visiting Romania on Tuesday and Wednesday


European Parliament President Martin Schulz will be paying an official visit to Romania on Tuesday and Wednesday, on which occasion he is scheduled to meet Romanian authorities and address a plenary session of the Bucharest legislature.

Schulz will meet Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday and he will then visit the water cleaning plant in Targu-Jiu (southwestern Romania), a project carried out on European Union funds.

The European Parliament head is scheduled on Wednesday to meet President Traian Basescu, Speaker of the Deputies’ Chamber Valeriu Zgonea, Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean and to deliver a speech to the Romanian Parliament.

Later in the day, Schulz will take part in debates with the Romanian students at the Central University Library based in Bucharest.
