Gold medal for Romanian high school students at International Astronomy Olympiad


Romania’s Olympic team was awarded two gold medals at the 17th edition of the International Astronomy Olympiad, organized in the period October 16 to 24, in South Korea (Gwangju), a release of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport informs.

„The performance was obtained by Andrei Alexandru Cuceu (10th grade) and Paul Andrei Draghis (11th grade), both students at the National College „Vasile Lucaciu ” in Baia Mare. Andrei-Alexandru Cuceu was also conferred a special prize for the highest score in the practical test”, says the press release.

Romania’s team also included Cristian-Catalin Ignat („Avram Iancu” General School in Baia Mare), Remus-Stefan Bompa („Nicu Gane” National College in Falticeni, Suceava County), Alexandru Calin ( „Mihai Viteazul” National College in Ploiesti) and Catalina Ana Miritescu (International School of Informatics in Bucharest).
