Ponta: Cantacuzino Institute to be restructured; vaccine production to be managed by Antibiotice Iasi
Cantacuzino Institute in Bucharest will be restructured so as to get future prospects and the vaccine production will be managed by Antibiotice Iasi, said Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday at the Parliament Palace.
„I believe this topic is on the Government’s agenda today. Raed Arafat, undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Health, and others have worked for some time with the purpose of saving Cantacuzino Institute, and even to provide it with a prospect for the future. That means research and development remain independent, supported by the ministry”, said the prime minister at the conference „Health Forum – Funding Health System 2013.”
„The point was that production should be managed by Antibiotice company, where the state is a majority shareholder and it will remain so, it will never sell it. Antibiotice Iasi has been the Romanian producer with the best figures, they have got profit here in Romania and I will say it again, this is a company where the Romanian state is the majority shareholder, we have control. This is an idea to save production and research,” he stressed.
