Spain and Romania sign a Memorandum of cooperation in transport and transport infrastructure
The Spanish authorities undertook, together with those in Romania, the task to jointly explain to the European Commission that the situation in the field of EU funds absorption has changed.
The move comes after the Romanian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ovidiu Silaghi, signed with his Spanish counterpart, Ana Pastor, a Protocol of bilateral assistance, with provisions that particularly refer to the EU funds absorption, given the experience of Spain in attracting them into infrastructure projects.
In declarations given at the end of the meeting in Madrid, the Romanian Minister of Transport explained that he presented to Ana Pastor the up-to-date situation of the infrastructure projects in Romania, the degree of absorption of EU funds and activities of Spanish companies that have invested in the country. „We received support /of the Spanish side – editor’s note / to track the degree of absorption of EU funds and to explain in front of the Commission that the situation is different”, said Silaghi. He also said that, Wednesday, October 31, a first bilateral meeting is scheduled, under the provisions of the Protocol, between an official representative of CFR Infrastructure and the representative of Spanish railway company, Renfe.
