Politically speaking, Romania is in a difficult situation, in terms of the manner it is assessed by the families – the EU and NATO – to which it belongs, President Traian Basescu said in a direct message, late on Monday.
President Basescu specified that his statement is justified by the fact that he feels responsible to Romania and the Romanians.
‘It is the first press statement I make after the referendum, and it is mainly related to the domestic problems, mirroring abroad, and in the manner Romania is assessed. (…) The political battle is none of my business. What I have to say today is by virtue of Art. 80 of Romania’s Constitution, reading that it is the President who watches the state institutions to work, President Basescu stressed.
