The Parliament will convene on January 21, announced Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Monday after the meeting of the Social Liberal Union (ruling USL) which took place at the Parliament Palace.
„We have held talks within the USL and decided to ask our colleagues at the helm of the Parliament the meeting of the body on Monday, January 21,” said Ponta.
He also announced he took a political mandate so that the Government should negotiate with the delegation of the IMF, the World Bank on Wednesday about the data of the budget for 2013, which will be approved and sent to the Parliament most likely on January 23 in a session.
The PM added that once the budget is ready, he will present the draft to the groups of the political parties which make up USL.
„After that, we will plead to the other parliamentary groups, the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (opposition UDMR), the Democratic Liberal Party (opposition PDL) and the People’s Party-Dan Diaconescu (opposition PP-DD), if they agree, to make a presentation of the results of the negotiations with the IMF together with the Minister of Finance and the delegate minister for Budget, and of course, the budget formula for 2013, before we begin the proper debates in the plenum. If we send it on 23, there are the commissions, there is the period of amendments, after which there is the debate in the plenum by the end of January,” said the Head of Government.
