President Traian Basescu on Monday meets ambassadors accredited in Romania

President Traian Basescu at the Cotroceni Palace on Monday meets the ambassadors accredited in Romania, on the occasion of the annual meeting with the chiefs of the diplomatic missions to Romania, the Presidential Administration informs.

Last year, the head of state talked to the ambassadors accredited in Romania on January 19, in his speech back then pointing out that Romania in its foreign policy would approach the same continuity spirit as within the European policies, the actions being directed to consolidating the results registered in previous years.

On the same occasion, Traian Basescu reiterated that Romania maintained its objective of adopting the European single currency in 2015, pointing out that our country was aware that for meeting this target fulfilling the criteria of Maastricht was not enough, but the state economy and the Romanian state institutions also had to be competitive.

Concerning the energy area, the Romanian President underscored in the discussions with the foreign ambassadors that the Nabucco and AGRI projects remained ‘of utmost importance’ to Romania.
