President Basescu to Italy and Greece’s ambassadors: You also became very good friends of Romania
President Traian Basescu, on Monday, decorated Greece’s Ambassador Georgios Poukamissas and Italy’s Ambassdor to Romania Mario Cospito , at the end of their missions, and told them they became ‘very good friends’ of Romania.
‘Mr. Ambassador of Italy and Mr. Ambassador of Greece in Bucharest, it is an honor to me to give you these decorations of the Romanian State, for the way you fulfilled your missions in Bucharest. You have been not only exquisite representatives of your countries, but you also became very good friends of Romania. It seldom happens, worldwide, that at this level one should make gestures that beyond any protocol, they are made from the bottom of one’s heart. I want to tell you that the small ceremony and Romania’s high decorations you have been conferred on, today, they are not only a token of respect for the countries you represented in Romania, but also we give them to you from all our heart, for what you have done for Romania,’ said Basescu in the speech he delivered during the ceremony at the Cotroceni Palace.
He wished the leaving dignitaries success in their careers and reassured them that their return to Romania, even as tourists, if not on diplomatic missions, will be a great joy.
President Traian Basescu conferred the National Order For Merit in rank of Great Cross on Greece’s Ambassador to Romania Georgios Poukamissas, as a token of high recognition and appreciation for the active contribution to the development of the bilateral ties between Romania and Greece, of the summit bilateral technical and sectoral dialogue, and for the cultural exchanges between or countries.’
The Italian Ambassador Mario Cospito was conferred the same distinction as a sign of high appraisal for his personal contribution to the development of the bilateral relations between Italy and Romania.’
