Corlatean: It is in the citizens’ interest to be registered at the embassy of the country they visit
Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean on Tuesday, after he participated in the meeting of the two Parliament specialist committees, underscored that there was a law stipulating the citizens traveling abroad need to inform the embassies on their presence in the country in question.
‘I believe the discussions were extremely open, fair, I believe the information provided by the Foreign Affairs Ministry is useful to the Parliament members for a better information and a possible decision in the future. When a person is abroad, he/she must be registered at the embassy. There is a law stipulating the need to inform embassies. We are stuck in the old communist mentality. (…) The paradigm has changed and it is in the citizens’ interest to be registered at the embassies,’ Minister Corlatean pointed out.
