Crisu Anastasiu on Tuesday, nominated by the Social Liberal Union (USL, the ruling alliance), was appointed as Ombudsman by the joint plenum of the Deputies’ Chamber and Senate, Secretary of Deputies’ Chamber Niculae Mircovici announced.
The decision was taken by 358 votes to 57.
The seat of the Ombudsman is held for five years.
Crisu Anastasiu is born on April 10, 1957. He graduated from the Law Faculty of Bucharest University, in 1981; he received a LLD in criminal procedure law, in 1998.
He was a judge with the Law Court in Calarasi (south), between 1981 and 1982, a prosecutor at Bolintin Vale, over 19821985, and a prosecutor at the Prosecutor Office of Bucharest Municipality (1985-1990), a governmental inspector at the Government’s General Secretariat (1990-1991); General Secretary of Romania’s Court of Accounts (1993-1994), an account advisor at Romania’s Court of Accounts (1995-2002), a financial general prosecutor with Romania’s Court of Accounts (August 2002 – 2005), a prosecutor at the Prosecutor Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ), a trainer at the National Institute of Magistracy (August 2005 – June 2009). At present he is a barrister in Bucharest Bar Association.
Since Aug 2005 he is a professor at the Law Faculty of Bucharest University. During 2010 -2012 he was a member of the Commission for Law Sciences of the National Council for Certification of Academic Titles, Diplomas and Certificates.
In 2002 he is awarded the National Order of Faithful Service in rank of Knight. In 2008 the Union of Jurists of Romania rewarded him the Diploma of Honour for the contribution he made to the book Constitution, Comments on Articles.
He wrote eight books, as follows Criminal Procedure Law, Generalities, published at the C.H. Beck Publishing House (2007), Criminal Procedure Law, Special procedures, by the same editor and in the same year, Treatment of Underage Offenders In Criminal Procedure, Compared Law, (2006). He speaks English.
