IntMin Stroe attends JHA Council meeting, discussing Romania’s Schengen entry bid
Romanian Minister of Internal Affairs Radu Stroe will attend the meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, with one of the topics featuring on the meeting agenda being Romania’s and Bulgaria’s Schengen Area entry bid.
Also part of the interior ministry delegation are State Secretary for the Liaison with the Parliament and the Government Bogdan Tohaneanu and police chief inspector Marian Tutilescu, who heads the Department for Schengen, European Affairs and International Relations.
The agenda of the talks includes Romania’s and Bulgaria’s Schengen accession, Schengen Governance, SIS II, the Intelligent Borders package, the security situation in Sahel/ Maghreb (Mali crisis and the incident in In Amenas, Algeria).
The European Union’s interior ministers, during the working meetings, will address issues relating the migratory pressures, with the Frontex and BESA representatives to make reports on this matter.
