Steaua Bucharests’ coach Laurentiu Reghecampf says his team deserved to defeat Chelsea London, 1-0, in a 1st leg round of 16 Europa League match played on Thursday evening at the National Arena in Bucharest.
‘When you play a team such as Chelsea you have to do better than them. Chelsea is a strong team but I am glad we won and I believe we deserved to win. We wanted to avoid their scoring and the game was such that we could withdraw. They did not press either, because that is their style. Had we been more focused, we might have done better,’ Reghecampf told the DigiSport private broadcaster.
‘We now have to think about the next match and we will celebrate only when we have achieved our objective. The decisive game will be played in London, as I was saying. We are not the favourites to advance, but we will go to London to score, to own the ball, to surprise,’ said Reghecampf.
