The Christian Democratic National Peasant Party (PNTCD) chairman Aurelian Pavelescu and the Civic Force head Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu on Saturday signed a protocol on setting up the Alliance for Justice and Truth (D.A. Alliance).
‘Modern Romania needs a united right, which should bring together political principles and beliefs and prove a long-term vision. We unite in order to change the current proportion of the forces. We will promote a policy equalling the citizen’s interests, based on honest and constant dialogue, we will support worth and merit as arguments for prosperity. Our alliance represents the political history of Romania and joins the PNTCD tradition and experience with the vision and new enthusiasm of the Civic Force’, says the document signed at the Palace of Parliament.
Among the D.A. Alliance principles are democracy, the rule-of-law state, the citizen’s freedoms and rights and powerful and independent judiciary.
The first D.A. Alliance was a political alliance of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Democratic Party (PD), which ran in the local, general and presidential elections from 2004. The alliance stopped being operational in April 2007, but was not formally dismantled and the Democrats were forced out of the Government headed by Liberal Calin Popescu-Tariceanu. The Democrats, meanwhile, turned in the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), while the Liberals formed a new government with the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR).
